Hooked on Hammocks!
So this is the first post of my hammock blog. I was in the field for training last week and one of the Lieutenants let me borrow his ENO Doublenest and rain fly to sleep in. I had not used a hammock before but the setup was easy and accomplished in under 10 minutes. Being in Alaska, the temps this time of year are in the 20's to teens so I used my REI base camp pad inside the hammock along with my Mountain Hardwear Wraith to keep warm. I slept on my side all night like a baby and was snug as a bug in a rug. This prompted me to go and purchase my own from REI. I ended up going with the ENO (although the clark jungle hammock looks awesome) one-link system which has the hammock, rain fly, atlas straps, and the bug net all in the same kit. I set it up the other day at my house and slept in it just in time for the first snow of the year.
I am looking at improving my tarp to a larger winter tarp and I need to get an underquilt so I dont have to sleep with a pad.
